Hiding In Him (Jesus)

Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Psalm 17:8

Did you play hide and seek when you were a child? The one who found the best place to hide often won the game. When you hide in Jesus, you are hidden from evil. Does that mean you will not experience the attacks or tempting of the devil? No, but the Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:7-8).

It is difficult to do anything when one is on the run. The name of Jesus sets Satan and his demons on the run.

The Bible has a lot to say about hiding. Many of the scriptures about hiding in the Old Testament pertain to God hiding from His people, His people trying unsuccessfully to hide from Him, or people hiding from the enemy or opposing kings.

The New Testament also talks about how, in Christ, God no longer hides. While people still try to hide from God, they cannot. Believers do not hide from God but draw near to hide in Him. And the Lord reveals secrets to those who ask.

How do you hide in Jesus? By continually drawing near to Him in worship and prayer, confessing your sin, thanking Him for what He has done, and boldly interceding for yourself and others.
