He is Mighty

And he preached, saying, "There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose."

Mark 1:7

The word "mightier" used here says a lot about Jesus. By using this particular Greek word, John is saying Jesus Christ is altogether so much stronger than anyone, and stronger in every area of one's life. It conveys the strength of body, soul, and mind. Jesus is mightier in His words, Jesus is mightier in His thoughts, and Jesus is mightier in His actions. And we can see in this book of Mark that Jesus indeed had might and strength, through the power of the Holy Spirit, wherever He walked and in whatever He said.

Just five verses later (Mark 1:12), we see Satan attacking and tempting Jesus, but He was "mightier" and withstood the devil's attacks.

When you feel depressed or weak spiritually, know that Jesus Christ is mightier than any of your problems. He is stronger in every area to help you overcome any issue.

You can trust Jesus--the Savior of the world, the One who died for your sins--because He is mightier than you are. You can trust Him to take care of your needs, your concerns, your fears, and your worries.

"For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name" (Luke 1:49).

"And when He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, 'Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works?'" (Matthew 13:29).

"Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!" (Psalm 150:2).
