GRACE AND PEACE MULTIPLIED

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. –

2 Peter 1:2

If your days on Earth ceased right now, what would you leave the planet knowing? How do you know that what you know is true? Epistemology is the investigation of the space between belief and opinion. In the apostle Peter’s writings, he appears to be concerned about God’s people being grounded in knowledge, and for a good reason! In the early days of the Church, heretical teachings frequently slipped in. Some were leading people to believe they must add human works to grace for salvation. The antidote to this error is knowledge.

Human knowledge alone is toxic because it is missing the key ingredients of God’s character. “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up” (1 Corinthians 8:1). For those wanting to know anything, the beginning is always in the Creator of all that exists. “From Him and through Him and to Him are all things” (Romans 11:36).

God will lead you to life and peace through the knowledge of Him and your proximity to Him. As you delve into a deeper relationship with Christ you will discover spiritual truth. “Their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasure of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2-3).

Knowing Christ as Lord brings peace and grace.
