For this reason, I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you.
Titus 1:5
Like Moses, Paul knew he had a successor—everyone has a successor. Everywhere Paul traveled, he put things in order.
He made sure the church had leadership. He did not leave things a mess. He had a plan.
God has a plan. He knows who will replace you, and He knows who will replace me. When you are going to die, and you know you are going to die, then you have to think ahead and start preparing by praying, not appointing, but preparing for the right person to be called by God. It has to be the person God calls. This is very important.
You do not ever want to be a respecter of persons in the things of God, because God has His ways, not your ways or my ways.
It has to be a person who catches the vision, not only the vision, but has the heart to do it and the passion to grab hold of it, so you can continue on.
Every work of God, if it does not have the heart and the passion, will die.
There are those who still have the passion and the heart to do what God has called them to do, and in preparation, they are preparing other people to do the work of God.
Pastor Chuck Smith has taught all of us to be like Moses, to be like Paul the Apostle, and to train up our Joshuas and Timothys.
God is on the lookout today for a man who will be quiet enough to get a message from Him, brave enough to preach it, and honest enough to live it.
