SHE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.
SHE REMAINS IN OUR HEARTS.
AS THERE IS GREAT LOVE IN THIS ROOM,
LOVE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER.
THIS WILL BE A DIFFICULT CHRISTMAS FOR YOU
BECAUSE THERE WILL BE AN EMPTY CHAIR WHERE AUNT EDITH ONCE SAT.
THE SADNESS IS REAL -
BUT SO IS THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
LET HOPE FILL THE VOID IN YOUR HEART
INSTEAD OF BITTERNESS.
LET PEACE FILL YOUR HEART,
INSTEAD OF ANGER.
LET FAITH FILL YOUR HEART,
INSTEAD OF DESPAIR.
GOD IS STILL WITH US,
EVEN WHEN OUR LOVED ONES NO LONGER ARE.

THE READING
WHEN I WAS GIVEN THE MESSAGE ABOUT AUNT EDITH,
I HAD A DISCUSSION WITH GOD
AS TO WHY.
NOT BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW ANY BETTER
BUT WHY THE TIME
AND THE SEASON, WE ARE IN.
THEN I WAS ON SOCIAL AND SAW A PICTURE THAT SAID
THIS IS THE SEASON,
AND IT WAS A CHRISTMAS REEF.
AND THE OTHER SIDE SAID
THIS IS THE REASON
AND IT WAS A PICTURE OF A CROWN OF THORNS.
IF I HAD TO NAME THIS MESSAGE
IT WOULD BE
LOOKING BACK TO MOVE FORWARD.
AS I LOOK BACK THERE WAS ALWAYS LOVE, FOOD, MUSIC, AND FUN.
THE TORRES AND SANTIAGO’S ARE FAMILY.
DEBBIE WAS LIKE MY SISTER SO MUCH THAT SHE WARNED ME NOT TO MARRY MY FIRST WIFE.
SHE WAS RIGHT I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO HER.
THEN BILLY WAS LIKE MY LITTLE BROTHER
I HAD A JACKET I HAD MADE WITH A PUERTO RICAN FLAG ON THE BACK AND WHEN I OUTGREW IT, I GAVE IT TO BILLY.
I ASKED HIM ABOUT IT AND HE SAID HE GAVE IT TO HIS SON
JOANNA AND MARISSA WERE MARRIED BUT WE ALL LOVED EACH OTHER
AUNT EDITH WAS MUCH LIKE MY MOM, SHE COULD LOVE YOU WITH THE RIGHT HAND AND NOCK ME UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH THE LEFT.
I THINK AT THE TIME FOR MY BROTHER GARY AND I, GLADDIS WAS OUR ALLY.
BUT THERE WAS ALWAYS LOVE.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us,
a Child is born,
Unto us
a Son is given;
And the government
will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful,
Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year
because it calls our attention to one of the most beautiful teachings of Scripture —
the Incarnation of Christ.
When you realize the incredible truths behind the reality that God came and dwelt among us, it can’t help but impact the way you live.
Plus, it’s an awesome reminder that God kept His promises from the Old Testament
to send a Messiah to rescue His people from their sins.
Jesus is Immanuel.
He truly is “God with us.”
Jesus isn’t just sent by God;
He is God and will never leave us or forsake us
(Hebrews 13:5).
God always keeps His promises.
The coming of Jesus fulfills every promise from the Old Testament.
If God always keeps His promises,
then He can always be trusted.
Christmas is the perfect time to tell someone about Jesus.
He truly is the greatest gift anyone could ever receive.
Most people, even unbelievers,
realize that Christmas has to do with the birth of Jesus.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO TALK ABOUT THE WHO WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT THE WHY.
Jesus is all right,
so long as He stays in the manger as a baby.
But they don’t like the idea of Jesus
dying on the cross for their sins and rising from the dead.
They don’t like the idea of Jesus
saying they need to turn from their sins and put their faith in Him.
Like King Herod, they see Jesus as a threat.
WHEN I TALKED TO BILLY HE WAS WITH JOANN.
THE FIRST QUESTION I ASKED HIM
WAS AUNT EDITH SAVED.
WAS SHE A BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST.
WITHOUT HESITATION HE SAID YES.
WE CELEBRATE IN THIS SEASON THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us, a Child is born,
JESUS THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
WAS NOT BORN IN A PALACE.
HE WAS BORN IN A BARN
BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ROOM IN THE INN.
HE DID NOT HAVE A SLEEP NUMBER BED OR A MY PILLOW MATTRIS TOPPER.
HE HAD A HORSE TROUGH FULL OF HAY.
HE WAS LYING ON TOP OF IT
WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTH.
AS A CHILD HE WORKED ALONGSIDE HIS FATHER AS A CARPENTER
In Luke 2:41-52, HE WAS TAKEN TO JERUSALEM FOR PASSOVER WITH HIS MOTHER AND FATHER AND WHEN IT WAS OVER HIS PARENTS LEFT TO RETURN HOME.
HIS PARENTS TRAVELED FOR A DAY BEFORE THEY REALIZED JESUS WAS LEFT BEHIND.
WHEN THEY WENT BACK, THEY FOUND JESUS IN THE TEMPLE TEACHING THE PRIEST AS ONE WITH AUTHORITY.
BUT JESUS WAS NOT JUST ANY SON.
HE IS THE SON OF GOD.
Colossians 1:19-20
19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Jesus,
20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
JESUS WAS BORN FOR ONE REASON TO DIE FOR THE SINS OF YOU AND I
HE WAS COMPLETELY GOD AND COMPLETELY HUMAN.

TEMPTED
BEATEN
RIDAQULED
BETRAYED
HE HAD HIS BEARD PULLED OUT
HE CARRIED HIS CROSS UPHILL
WHICH BRINGS US TO THE ---
WHY QUESTION
IF WE LOOK BACK AT Colossians 1:21-22
WHY DID IT PLEASE THE FATHER TO LET HIS SON DIE THIS WAY?
WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE OF JESUS?
WHO AGONIZED WITH GOING TO THE CROSS. SO MUCH SO THAT IT BECAME BROPLETS OF BLOOD THAT FELL TO THE GROUND IN HIS SWEAT.
Colossians 1:21-22 TELLS US
21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—
THE BIBLE IS CLEAR,
ONE DAY WE WILL GIVE AN ACCOUNT OF OUR ACTIONS.
THE BIBLE SAYS THERE ARE TWO BOOKS AND YOUR NAME IS IN ONE OF THEM.
ONE IS THE BOOK OF JUDGEMENT.
THE OTHER IS THE BOOK OF LIFE.
IF YOU ARE IN THE BOOK OF LIFE THE BIBLE SAYS WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE WITH THE FATHER, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
BUT YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE
Joshua 24:14-15 “Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
JESUS WAS PUT IN A BORROWED GRAVE.
BECAUSE HE WASN’T GOING TO NEED IT VERY LONG.
BECAUSE THREE DAYS LATER OUR JESUS BUSTED OUT OF THAT GRAVE.
THE BIBLE SAYS
IT’S NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER BUT BY MY SPIRIT SAYS THE LORD.
IT SHOWED THAT GOD THE FATHER HAD ACCEPTED GOD THE SON’S SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS ON OUR BEHALF.
HE IS THE GOD OF YESTERDAY. TODAY. AND FOREVER.
THE BIBLE SAYS THE LORD DOES NOT CHANGE.
JESUS MADE THE WAY POSSIBLE
TO BE RECONCILED TO GOD,
JESUS MADE THE WAY POSSIBLE
TO BE CALLED UNTO HOPE.
JESUS MADE THE WAY POSSIBLE FOR US
TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
THE TOMB IS EMPTY
BUT THE THRONE OF GOD IS FULL OF
THE RISSEN KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
AND BECAUSE OF IT, WE HAVE HOPE.
JESUS LIVES SO,
PEACE LIVES,
BECAUSE JESUS LIVES
JOY LIVES,
BECAUSE JESUS LIVES
LOVE LIVES
BECAUSE JESUS LIVES
HOPE LIVES.
WE ARE NOT HOPELESS
WE ARE HOPEFUL.
THE SAME JESUS THAT CAME AS THE
LAMB OF GOD THE FIRST TIME
WILL COME AGAIN AS THE
LION OF JUDAH.
NOW THERE IS MERCY AND GRACE
TO ALL WHO CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD
WILL BE SAVED
WE ARE ALL SINNERS
NO ONE CAN GET INTO HEAVEN ON THEIR MIRTS.
THE BIBLE GOES ON TO SAY
THE COST FOR OUR SIN IS DEATH.
BUT GOD SENT HIS SON TO DIE ON THE CROSS
SO, YOU AND I CAN HAVE LIFE.
OUR PART IS CONFESSION ASKING THE LORD TO COME INTO OUR HEARTS.
Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE BELIEVE THAT.
I KNOW AUNT EDITH BELIEVED IT AND IS IN HEAVEN AS WE SPEAK.
BUT IT IS NOT ABOUT THEM IT’S ABOUT YOU.
AUNT EDITH CHOSE GOD
NOW SHE IS WITH ALL WHO CHOSE GOD OVER THIS WORLD.
