Do You STILL Believe That What You Do Can Make A Difference

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

James 5:13

Do you remember the first ballot you cast in a presidential election? Most people do. It may cause you to look back at your younger self with amusement or perhaps a sense of pride. Regardless, for many, it was a memorable moment in life. Psychologists are fascinated with why people go out of their way, and in some cases go to great trouble, to cast one single vote! Most every study reveals the voting public believes that what they do, even if it is small, makes a difference in the bigger picture.

Today some may be celebrating the recent election while others are experiencing disappointment. The question is: do you STILL believe that what you do can make a difference?

“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months, it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit” (James 5:17-18).

Prayers, like votes, are offered one per person, one at a time. On the right day, at the right time, Elijah’s prayer made a HUGE difference. Today, you need to stay vigilant, praying for God to work His will.
