And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. –
Deuteronomy 8:10
According to current statistics, 20 percent more people are moving this year than in years past. While remote working may be at the core of the opportunity for many, most also report a desire to have a greater quality of life by being closer to family and friends.
The ancient Israelites understood moving very well. They were living in slavery and took a chance, trusting God to lead them to a new place of freedom. Although they had been praying for deliverance for generations, the move itself took amazing faith. After a harrowing 40 years of living in the desert, God did exactly as He promised! He brought His people into a beautiful inheritance, a fertile land custom-designed for them.
Like moving does today, inhabiting their new home involved an adjustment period. The future was bright but the way they would handle God’s blessing was still unseen. Through the prophets, God challenged His people: “Beware lest you say in your heart, my power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth. You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:17).
Do you see yourself moving into a new season of blessing? You are! It may not look like you are expecting, but if you are following Christ, you are moving away from the slavery of sin and towards the inheritance of freedom in God’s goodness. Give gratitude for God’s leading in your journey towards eternity in His presence.
