CROSSING THE RED SEA DELIVERANCE VBS DAY 1

6-26-23

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM THE PLAY?

MEMORY VERSE

Exo 15:18 “The LORD shall reign forever and ever.”

TODAY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT DELIVERANCE

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

WE ARE LOOKING AT THE RED SEA CROSSING IN EXO. 14

Egypt to the Red Sea is about 664. and ¾ miles

The children of Israel left at around midnight and

Exodus 14:20: “And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel, and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.”

It was still nighttime when the Egyptian armies tried to attack Israel on the banks of the Red Sea.

At this time the children of Israel began to panic,

they began to murmur and complain

some said why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness?

Their backs against the Red Sea and the Egyptian Army coming after them.

They became fearful.

"Moses said, do not be afraid. Standstill, and see the salvation of the LORD,

Moses and the children of Israel left Egypt. Pharaoh has, once

more hardened his heart and is now pursuing the children of

Israel.

Pharaoh had been humiliated and angered by the events

surrounding the Israelite’s deliverance, and he now sought

revenge.

The Egyptian army was much more powerful

then God’s people (who had no weapons and traveled with their

families--women, children, and elderly),

they lacked that which was most important:

the presence of God on their side.

In the Old Testament, God showed Himself in many ways, like

The Garden with Adam and Eve as a voice

When Abraham went to rescue Lot God appeared as an Angel

When Jacob wrestled with God He appeared as an Angel

We see God appearing in a burning bush with Moses

So, God puts a dark cloud between the children of Israel and the Egyptians.

Then God told Moses to stretch out his arms and God parted the Red Sea.

The Bible says they walked on dry ground. Exo. 14:22

When the children of Israel were safe God closed up the Red Sea and the Egyptians drowned

TODAY WE LOOK TO Jesus for Salvation:

WHY?

WHAT DOES He deliver us from?

(Romans 3:10) “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;”

(Romans 3:23) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death… but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

(Romans 5:8) “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 10:9-10) “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

(Romans 10:13) “For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
