CLEAN ME O GOD

  • Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!

  • Psalm 51:2

Confession is agreeing with God. It is not only agreeing with Him about your sin but with the positive things as well—all that He has offered you through Christ’s sacrifice. However, coming boldly before His throne involves soul searching. For a committed follower of Jesus, sins of omission may be more tempting than sins of commission. How often do you take stock of your actions and behaviors, both what you are doing and what you are not? Confession of wrongdoing (or not doing what’s right) leads to forgiveness, peace, and joy.

Meditate on who the Lord is Creator of the Universe, eternal and unchanging, good, loving, and righteous. Consider who you are in Jesus: blessed in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6), partaker of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) a child of God (1 John 3:1), and thoroughly and completely forgiven (1 John 1:9).

Today, confidently draw near to Him. Be assured that evil flees when you do so, just as darkness vanishes in the light. Believe that God hears and answers your prayers, loves you, and totally forgives you of your wrongdoings and mistakes. Let His peace rule your heart. Remember to bring the needs of the nation before Him. Pray for the gospel to be preached, the name of Jesus to be lifted up, and a great revival to take place in this country.
