Shortly after the Last Supper, Jesus was betrayed by Judas with a kiss.
Judas used such an intimate expression of love and respect to betray Jesus. Judas is the perfect example of those who say they are "In Christ" but they are truly not!
Watch out!
Judas never believed Jesus to be God. He probably didn't even truly believe that Jesus was the Messiah. All the other disciples called Jesus "Lord", but Judas called Him "Rabbi" which means that He didn't see Him more than a teacher.
Judas not only lacked faith in Christ, but he also had little or no personal relationship with Jesus.
The only documented dialogue between Jesus and Judas involves Judas being rebuked by Jesus after his greed-motivated remark to Mary (about selling the oil), Judas’ denial of his betrayal, and the betrayal itself. He's also listed always last.
He was in charge of money and he clearly was consumed by greed. Judas may have desired to follow Jesus just for His great following and wanting to profit from the collections taken from the group.
Just like Judas, there are many professing Christians that are not truly rooted in Christ. Satan is using them to present the truth with the perfect twist to keep you under works and condemnation. Please use your discernment, use the truth! Don't let your heart depart from Grace!
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves." (Matthew 7:15)
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us." (1 John 2:19)
